Quotidian by Michael Gaines is a free portrait dingbat font built from sharply inked male faces and upper-body figures. The drawings use broad black shapes, clipped contours, and spare interior lines to suggest mid-century newspaper caricature. Expressions and clothing vary from figure to figure.
Editorial illustration is its clearest use, especially for profiles, columns, or feature pages concerned with public figures and popular culture. The same compact portraits could form a cast of characters on event posters, entertainment graphics, and merchandise. Across these settings, the recurring faces function as ready-made spot illustrations, linking text to a recognizable human subject rather than acting as neutral symbols.
