Hieratic Numerals Police

Hieratic Numerals by David Kerkhoff is a free ancient-sign dingbat font built from broad, hand-drawn marks. Its uneven strokes shift between compact symbols and long sweeping curves, with blunt ends and a distinctly inked texture.

Egyptian-inspired signs suit museum graphics and historical publishing, where the lettering can echo reproduced inscriptions. They also fit educational games focused on early writing systems. On a book cover, each symbol can become an illustrated artifact rather than ordinary text.

The Hieratic numeral system was used in ancient Egypt and consisted of ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. Ancient Egyptians did not have a zero.
