Grumbling Effect by Vered Gilad Friedman is a free distressed cartoon display font with swollen, uneven letters and a scratchy printed surface. Its loose outlines and shifting stroke widths make the lettering look hand-drawn and slightly unruly.
The rough inked texture connects readily with comic illustration and photocopied collage, giving poster art and music merchandise a suitably scrappy voice. Children's entertainment and game graphics can also draw on the bouncy shapes, especially for mischievous or noisy themes. It is most convincing in an illustrated title where the letters can behave like part of the drawing rather than separate type.
